”DR. LOPEZ LIKELY SAVED MY LIFE: Dr. Lopez is the greatest PCP I have ever worked with and cares for her patients above and beyond what is typical in our healthcare system. I first met Dr. Lopez when I did not have a PCP, but was extremely ill. I had been severely sick for 9 days, and the ER told me it was pneumonia and sent me home, after which I saw no improvement. I knew I needed a PCP in general so randomly picked her and went to my first appointment. Within’ 5 minutes of meeting her, she said I likely had Valley Fever and blood tests showed she was right. I immediately get on the proper medication and started to improve from this nightmare infection. Continued to see her as my PCP.

Fast forward a few years later, I get another unknown infection that triggered a reactive full body arthritis that had me bedridden. I couldn’t even stand up or walk on my own. I went to the ER twice, but they would not admit me and couldn’t figure out the problem.
Dr. Lopez insisted I go to the ER again, but coached me on the strategy and verbiage to use to get admitted, and called ahead to the ER to speak with the charge nurse and explain that it was imperative that I be admitted. Her passion and persistence helped me finally get a hospital to admit me so they could figure out what was wrong with me. The crazy thing is that while they were running dozens of tests and scans to figure out the infection, they luckily stumbled upon a tumor that ended up being a rare and aggressive type of Thyroid Cancer. If Dr. Lopez would not have worked so hard to get me admitted, I likely would not have known about this cancer for a long time to come, and by then it could have very possibly spread to other areas and become too aggressive to treat and survive from. So it is very realistic to say that Dr. Lopez saved my life!

I could go on and on about how much she helped me even after this with Disability and FMLA paperwork and just generally following up with me to see how I was doing in recovery. I can’t stress enough that Dr. Lopez cares about her patients in a way that is unprecedented in today’s fast paced, high volume medical landscape!
